About

Stephanie Sarlet

Stephanie is an experienced European Patent Attorney with more than twenty years in private practice. After key roles at two leading IP firms, she co-founded pitch.law with Bart in late 2021 to build a firm with a fresh perspective on intellectual property.

She has served as a strategic partner to numerous SMEs and startups, developing patent strategies aligned with their business objectives. Her approach extends beyond maximising protection: she ensures clients retain the freedom to operate that allows innovations to reach the market successfully. In her view, a patent portfolio must remain flexible enough to respond to shifts in both the client's and competitors' markets. She also integrates other forms of IP protection, including trademarks, designs, copyright, and trade secrets, for comprehensive legal guidance.

Most of her clients are SMEs and startups, where she works directly with decision-makers and the inventors behind the technology. She has also developed and defended large patent portfolios for multinationals, universities, and research institutions. Her technical expertise covers electronics, mechanics, computer-implemented inventions, and telecommunications.

Stephanie is admitted to practice before the EPO, UPC, WIPO, the Belgian IP Office, EUIPO, and BOIP. She is fluent in English, Dutch, French, and German. She previously served as Head of Patents at Gevers (2013-2014) and as Associate Partner at NLO (2017-2022), where she managed a significant portion of Samsung's European patent portfolio.

She is an active member of EPLIT (treasurer) and the IE-net expert group for intellectual property, where she coordinates courses on patent litigation and IP management.
